There are many places in the world where hundreds of people visit throughout the year. Due to the large crowd, arrangements for essential things are also made at these tourist spots. These include facilities ranging from food and drink to toilets. But many times, due to the large crowd, people using the toilets face inconvenience. A solution to this inconvenience has been found at a tourist spot in China. There is a famous Buddhist heritage here which is recognized by UNESCO. Timers have been installed in the toilets here which will tell how long the people who have entered have been inside. There was a demand to remove it.
According to the New York Post website, there is Yungang Buddhist Grottoes in Shangxi province of China. This is an ancient Buddhist temple where there are more than 200 caves and thousands of statues of Buddha. It has been given the status of World Heritage by UNESCO. The public toilets built here have timers installed on them. The timer (China tourist destination) tells how long the door has been closed, i.e. how long a person has been inside the bathroom. The bathroom which is empty has ‘Empty’ written on the timer installed above it.

An employee there, while talking to a government newspaper named Nanchang Evening News, said that these timers have been installed for the convenience of the tourists visiting there. Many times tourists spend more time in the bathroom than necessary. If something happens to them inside the bathroom, or an emergency situation arises, then they can be rescued at such a time. These timers have been installed for their safety.

A worker told that these timers will not decide the time to use the bathroom, one can take as much time as he wants, it will only show how long the door has been closed. In such a situation, people outside will not have to knock on the door unnecessarily. The workers said that it is not like someone will be thrown out of the bathroom if it is too late, nor will the time limit be decided by the timer. However, even after so much explanation by the workers, there was a demand to remove it. The tourists who come there say that they feel as if their privacy is being violated. They are not satisfied with the fact that their time spent inside the bathroom is being recorded. They say that this can be a very embarrassing thing.
